Random Rant: Facebook

I’ll make this quick.

1 hour 30 minutes=The amount of time spent setting up my facebook privacy settings and removing applications.

And I’m not new to the Internet or facebook.  This is 10 years of experience from a person in the first generation of kids brought up with computers.

For a Web Site that can be updated with immediacy and accuracy, I’m kind of peeved that the process to delete information from my heydays as a college freshman took FOREVER!

Of course, now it’s harder to sell my information seeing as they don’t have access to it.  But this issue brings severe amounts of online privacy issues to the forefront.

What do you think about this issue?  Should Facebook make access to privacy setting easier or are things fine the way they are?

  1. I think you’ve hit on a sensitive issue that will be a topic of increasing discussion: How much are people willing to give up their privacy in order to participate in social media?
This might even make a good topic for your final paper.
